Appears as patches of silvery scales, or red areas on the legs, knees, arms, elbows, scalp, ears, and back. Toes and fingernails can lose their luster and develop ridges and pits. Generally follows a pattern of periodic flare-ups alternating with periods of remission. This condition is not contagious. Attacks can be triggered by stress, illness, injury, surgery, cuts, poison ivy, viral or bacterial infection, sunburn, overuse of drugs or alcohol, anti-inflammatory drugs, lithium, and beta blockers. Psoriasis has been linked to a build up of toxins.
- We suggest a high quality whole food supplement, like VITAFORCE™ to correct nutritional deficiencies. This provides organic whole food nutrients necessary for healthy skin and the repair of skin tissues. For example, Vitamin D has shown been to have significant improvements in those with psoriasis. 15 minutes of sun a day allows the body to synthesize enough Vitamin D. DICP, 25(7-8), July-August, 1991, p. 835-839. VITAFORCE™ also boosts the immune system which is critical in preventing psoriasis outbreaks.
- Herbal detoxification products may be helpful in flushing toxins, chemicals, heavy metals, and thousands of other poisons out of the kidneys which make effect the skin. We suggest using formulas that use organic, whole herbs. If interested, take a look at the Kidney Bladder Formula and Hot Cayenne Extract.
- Eat a diet that is composed of 50% raw foods and includes plenty of fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
- Drink plenty of distilled water and fresh “live” juices throughout the day. Juices are extremely nutritious and detoxifying.
- It is very important that you eat only organic foods. These foods will be free of pesticides, hormones, insecticides, and other chemicals and toxins that cause psoriasis.
- Use all natural skin care products that contain NO chemicals or synthetics of any kind.
- Use organic flaxseed oil on a daily basis, it contains ingredients that interfere with the production and storage of arachidonic acid (AA), a natural substance that promotes the inflammatory response and makes the legions of psoriasis turn red and swell.
- Lavender is good to use in a sauna or steam bath, it fights inflammation, soothes and heals irritated skin.
- Jojoba and Tea Tree Oil are a good mixture for psoriasis. Jojoba is extremely moisturizing while Tea Tree Oil is extremely antibacterial.
Things to Avoid:
- Also avoid all animal foods (meat, fish, chicken, turkey, eggs, etc…) and dairy foods, (especially milk, cream, butter, and cheeses), as these foods contain arachidonic acid (AA), a natural substance that promotes the inflammatory response and makes the legions of psoriasis turn red and swell.
